Joyce Sharman has been involved with service work for nonprofits for many years and started out as a member of the Board of the United Cerebral Palsy Association in Pittsburgh where she was raised.  She then relocated to Los Angeles and after marrying Bill Sharman of the Los Angeles  Lakers, she became a member of the Lakers Wives and the Forum Community Services.  Their emphasis was on raising funds for education with scholarships, helping families in need, and visiting schools around the Los Angeles area with a “just say no to drugs” message.  This included taking the players from the Lakers to schools and speaking directly to the students about the dangers of drugs and joining gangs.

She then became a Board member of the Toberman Neighborhood Center in San Pedro.  She worked tirelessly to raise millions of dollars for underserved neighborhoods.  The Toberman Neighborhood Center helps families and children of all ages with a particular emphasis on gang violence, poverty and education.  She currently is on the Board of Angels Nest of which she was one of the original Board members.  Angels Nest is a non-profit that provides housing for youth that are transitioning out of foster care.  She is also involved with Sharefest and West Coast Sports Medicine Foundation which provides scholarships  and healthcare for underserved youth.  She serves on numerous Boards in Indiana, PA where she now resides.

"I believe so much in the mission of Angels Nest and want to provide as much support as possible to help the numerous young people that need assistance with housing and daily needs during the difficult and stressful transitional time after foster care."
