A conversation on leadership, resilience, and knowing when to pivot
At Angels Nest, we are proud to share that our Executive Director, Arzo Yusuf, was recently featured on the podcast Leaders in the Spotlight with Tige Charity in an episode titled, “Leadership: Knowing When to PIVOT as a Leader.”
This conversation is a meaningful reflection of who Arzo is as a leader and why her voice continues to resonate with so many people across different communities. Her journey is one of resilience, purpose, and service. Born in Afghanistan and raised in California as a political asylum refugee, Arzo brings both lived experience and professional strength to every space she enters. Her leadership is grounded in compassion, courage, and a deep commitment to helping others.
In this episode, Arzo shares insight into leadership realities and the importance of knowing when to pivot. That message is especially powerful in the nonprofit world, where challenges are real, the work is personal, and the need for thoughtful, adaptive leadership is constant. At Angels Nest, we see that leadership in action every day through Arzo’s dedication to supporting homeless foster youth and creating pathways toward greater stability, opportunity, and hope.
Arzo’s impact extends far beyond one role or one title. In addition to serving as Executive Director of Angels Nest and previously serving as Board President, she has been recognized for her service and advocacy in many ways. Her work on behalf of foster youth includes the documentary Breaking The Cycle and a TEDx Talk focused on ending sex trafficking by helping foster youth. She also speaks publicly on behalf of the National Coalition For Domestic Violence and serves in leadership roles across the broader community.
What makes this podcast feature especially meaningful is that it highlights not only Arzo’s accomplishments, but the heart behind her work. Leadership is not just about making decisions. It is about listening, learning, responding to change, and continuing to move forward with integrity and vision. Arzo represents that kind of leadership so well.
We are grateful to Tige Charity and Leaders in the Spotlight for featuring Arzo and for creating space for honest conversations around leadership, growth, and impact. Opportunities like this help shine a light on the mission of Angels Nest and the importance of standing with foster youth as they work toward brighter futures.
We invite you to watch the episode and hear Arzo’s inspiring perspective on leadership, purpose, and the power of pivoting when the moment calls for it.
